Minebea and DBJ Jointly Acquires Sartorius’ Industrial Technologies Division

Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ; President and Chief Executive Officer: Toru Hashimoto) and Minebea Co., Ltd.(Minebea; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Yoshihisa Kainuma) have jointly acquired 100% of Sartorius Mechatronics T&H GmbH and its subsidiaries (Sartorius’ Industrial Technologies Division) from Sartorius Aktiengesellschaft (Sartorius AG), an international laboratory and pharmaceutical equipment provider. The contract was signed on December 19th, 2014.

Sartorius Industrial Technologies, a division of Sartorius AG, is a manufacturer of industrial weighing and detection equipment at sites in Germany (Hamburg, Aachen and Bovenden), India and China. It focuses on products with premium quality based on strong R&D, and sells to customers in the food, beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical industries around the world. Moreover, its foreign-body detection segment is expected to grow at a high rate because of a strongly positive market outlook.

Minebea announced its “Five Arrows” growth strategy in 2013, and its “4th arrow” focuses on measuring devices. The technological and business synergies resulting from this transaction will contribute to Minebea’s growth.

For DBJ, the joint investment with Minebea is a part of its ongoing VG Investment Program, a value for growth initiative to create value by assisting the growth strategy of Japanese companies. DBJ strongly believes that the transaction, based on a business and capital alliance between Minebea and DBJ in 2012, will support Minebea’s M&A and business strategy.
