Commitment to Respect Human Rights

Article 1

  1. 1.
    Based on our shared values of “Initiative” and “Integrity” and for the purpose of “Design the Future with Financial Expertise,” DBJ Group continues to expand financial frontiers, provides the best solutions for customers and society, and pursues sustainable development for Japan and the world. We consider that respect for human rights is a fundamental basis of all business activities and one of the most important issues and are determined to contribute to the sustainable development of society.

    DBJ Group respects the “United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights,” and understands and respects human rights, at a minimum, expressed in the “International Bill of Human Rights,” and the principles on fundamental rights set out in the “ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.” If the laws and regulations of a country or region and the enforcement thereof do not appropriately protect internationally recognized human rights, we seek ways to respect those rights while complying with the relevant laws and regulations.

    DBJ Group recognizes that its business activities can have an adverse impact on human rights and, therefore, seeks to promote respect for human rights through human rights due diligence and remedial actions.

Positioning and Scope of the DBJ Group Human Rights Policy

Article 2

    The DBJ Group Human Rights Policy was adopted based on its shared values of “Initiative” and “Integrity” and its unwavering mission of “Design the Future with Financial Expertise.”
  2. 2.
    The DBJ Group Human Rights Policy applies to all companies within DBJ Group and all its executives and employees strive to respect human rights based on this policy. DBJ Group urges its clients and suppliers to respect human rights and, where the actions of its clients or suppliers cause adverse human rights impacts, we strive to engage with them appropriately.

Human Rights of Executives and Employees

Article 3

  1. 1.
    DBJ Group respects the dignity and human rights of every executive and employee within DBJ Group. We view each executive and employee as our most valuable asset, and with this view, we strive to create better work environments for them and respect their freedom of association and right of collective bargaining.

    DBJ Group does not tolerate any discrimination, including on the grounds of race, nationality, social origin, creed, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or health conditions, any type of harassment and any human rights violation including forced labor and child labor. We ensure that all our executives and employees comply with this commitment.

    DBJ Group makes an effort to promote the correct understanding and recognition of human rights among all its executives and employees by providing human rights awareness-raising training.

Expectations towards Our Clients on Respect for Human Rights

Article 4

  1. 1.
    DBJ Group shares the concept of respect for human rights with its clients and urges them not to generate adverse impacts on human rights.
  2. 2.
    DBJ Group promotes respect for human rights by taking appropriate measures in cooperation with its clients in situations where its products and services cause, contribute to, or are directly linked to adverse human rights impacts and by appropriately engage with clients when the clients cause adverse human rights impacts.

Expectations towards Our Suppliers on Respect for Human Rights

Article 5

  1. 1.
    DBJ Group shares the concept of respect for human rights with its suppliers, and urges them not to generate adverse impacts on human rights.
  2. 2.
    We promote the respect of human rights by appropriately engaging with suppliers in the situation where the suppliers cause adverse human rights impacts.

Remedial Actions

Article 6

In a situation where executives or employees or business activities of DBJ Group cause, contribute to, or are directly linked to adverse human rights impacts, DBJ Group addresses these impacts appropriately and seeks to take remedial actions.

Governance and Management System

Article 7

  1. 1.
    The establishment and revision of the DBJ Group Human Rights Policy have been approved by the Board of Directors and will be regularly reviewed and revised as necessary.
  2. 2.
    Our initiatives for promoting the respect for human rights will be regularly reported to the Board of Directors following discussions at the Executive Committee.

Article 8

DBJ Group strives to improve and enhance its initiatives to ensure respect for human rights through dialogues and consultations with relevant stakeholders.
