Co-Investment in the UK Gunfleet SandsOffshore Wind Farm Projects

Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ ; President and Chief Executive Officer : Toru Hashimoto) has entered into an agreement with Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni ; Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and chief executive: Fumiya Kokubu) whereby DBJ will co- invest in the Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farms 1 and 2 in the UK.

The offshore wind market has been rapidly growing, being implemented at a fast pace by the EU governments in recent years, especially in the UK. Offshore wind is considered to be one of the next main renewable energy industries to be implemented in Japan alongside solar PV projects.

When transaction is completed Marubeni will have a 24.95 per cent ownership share and DBJ a 24.95 per cent ownership share in the Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farms 1 and 2. DONG Energy will retain its majority ownership share and will continue to operate the wind farms.

By partnering up with Marubeni and DONG Energy, who is the market leader in offshore wind, DBJ will be able to support domestic and international renewable energy projects.

For DBJ, this investment is part of its policy to apply inventive financing to resolve client issues, further leading to the pervasiveness of clean energy and the future prosperity of its clients.
