Shibuya + Fun Project (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) is an area management organization. This project is for the creation of a lively atmosphere using the public spaces around Shibuya Station. It uses the revenues it generates to carry out urban development activities in the area. Area management is a method of urban development that utilizes the characteristics of an area, mainly focusing on local residents and companies. In recent years, it has gained attention as a detailed approach for addressing issues faced by local communities and to express the sentiments of stakeholders. As it is difficult to secure financial resources for such projects, it is not easy to develop long-term business plans to carry out activities.
This project implemented financing to target projects establishing facilities that create a bustle, including a café that disseminates tourist information. This initiative being undertaken by the Shibuya + Fun Project previously launched services in November 2019 in the east exit underground plaza (Higashi-guchi Chika Hiroba) of Shibuya Station.
DBJ provided financing for the capital necessary for the launch and also supported the establishment of reasonable business plans. The goal is to achieve the business concept of making Shibuya the dispatch hub for information on lifestyle culture and to disseminate that information globally. DBJ has participated from the business plan formulation stage.
