Interest in avoided emissions is rising as a key indicator for achieving carbon neutrality. Avoided emissions quantitatively measure the contribution of a company's products and services to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across society. Proper evaluation is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Japanese companies and accelerate innovation.
In this report, we outline the challenges to broader adoption, review emerging corporate initiatives, and highlight the role of financial institutions in supporting this transition.
