DBJ provided sustainable finance for Newcastle International Airport Limited

Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ), together with ING Bank, NatWest, and HSBC UK, has provided sustainable finance ("the finance") for Newcastle International Airport Limited (NIAL), a firm in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

Newcastle International Airport is the North East's largest airport and the 11th busiest airport in the UK in terms of passenger numbers. The refinancing will see the airport commit to a number of sustainability targets to support its Net Zero Carbon 2035 plan and will enable the airport to progress, for example, the next phases of its solar farm project and its continued transition to electric vehicles.

Through this provision of finance to advanced airport sustainability management and ESG finance in the overseas market, DBJ aims to obtain knowhow beneficial to the Japanese market and contribute to carbon neutrality in Japan.
