Financing for the Construction of the Kintetsu Group's Abeno Harukas

Kintetsu Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture), was established in September 1910. At the core of the company is Kintetsu Railway Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture), a railway operator that manages the country's longest private railway network, which stretches across five prefectures in the Kinki and Chubu regions. The holding company also operates related businesses, including real estate, distribution, and hotel and leisure companies.

In 2014, Kintetsu Group Holdings embarked on development of Abeno Harukas, a 300-meter commercial-complex skyscraper, the tallest in Japan. In addition to tenants of office space, the property's occupants include a department store, hotel, museum, kindergarten, and university. More than 200 million people have visited the building cumulatively over the five years since its full-on opening in March 2014, and the building continues to bustle with visitors today.

Abeno Harukas boasts the highest level of quake-resistance performance and employs sophisticated environmental technologies. In addition, the building is directly connected to Osaka's foremost terminal station, served by seven railway lines. The convenient access it provides to Kansai International Airport and Osaka International Airport further underscores the complex's distinction as an intermodal transportation hub, functioning as the southern gateway to Osaka for the rest of Asia and, indeed, the world.

DBJ awarded Abeno Harukas its top rating under the DBJ Green Building Certification system and also provided financing. Going forward, DBJ plans to actively support measures for eco- and social-friendly urban development and revitalization that focuses on the realization of a sustainable society.
