The Silk Farm (headquarters: Yonago, Tottori Prefecture) promotes "universal labor" and the "revitalization of abandoned farmland" as its management themes and gathers together personnel with diverse backgrounds, including seniors and people with disabilities, in the Tomimasu district of Yonago. Tomimasu gathers together personnel with diverse backgrounds, including seniors and people with disabilities. The company produces strawberries and sweet potatoes (satsuma imo) by revitalizing and utilizing abandoned farmland that is spread out along the Yumigahama Peninsula in Tottori Prefecture. Focused on creating new tourist spots to attract inbound visitors, in March 2019, the company opened Chukai Fruit Park, a strawberry tourist farm.
DBJ believed that the management concept promoted by Tomimasu was unique and had a strong regional flavor and determined that the company's business, which aimed to cultivate new demand among inbound tourists, contributes to the sustainable development of the regional economy and can be a model case for use nationwide. DBJ utilized its Special Investment Operations as a vehicle to support the opening of the tourist farm.
In addition to supplying risk money, DBJ, collaborating with Japan Economic Research Institute, an arm of the DBJ Group, assessed the measures for revitalizing inbound tourism by using Tottori Prefecture's regional resources and released a report.
The report analyzes the natural resources in Tottori Prefecture and the potential for utilizing them for the tourist industry. The report compiled suggestions for promoting the region using tourism. It supports both regional collaborations originating from the tourist farm and the creation of a new tourist industry.
