DBJ to Invest in Breakthrough Energy Ventures Fund to Support Later-Stage Climate Innovations-First Japanese Bank to invest in BEV Select Fund I-

Development Bank of Japan Inc. ("DBJ") has agreed to invest in Breakthrough Energy Ventures Select Fund I ("BEV Select Fund I"). BEV Select Fund I is managed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures Management, L.P. ("BEV"), a firm headquartered in Boston, United States. BEV is a purpose-built investment firm that invests in, launches, and scales global companies that are building an emissions-free global economy. Through substantial investments mainly across the United States and Europe, providing a wide range of technical, policy, market, and management support to start-up companies, BEV is recognized as a pioneer in the industry. BEV Select Fund I is an investment vehicle created to support later-stage climate tech companies with highly differentiated technologies that have the potential to drive worldwide decarbonization. DBJ is the first Japanese bank to invest in BEV Select Fund I.

DBJ has contributed to policy making through multiple government councils and has provided decarbonization-related investments. Leveraging DBJ's supply of risk capital and identifying global investment trends toward decarbonization through the collaboration with BEV, DBJ will accelerate the realization of carbon neutrality.
