DBJ to Invest in Clean H2 Infra Fund S.L.P.

Development Bank of Japan Inc. ("DBJ") has agreed to invest in the Clean H2 Infra Fund S.L.P. ("the Fund"). The Fund is managed by Hy24 SAS ("Hy24"), a firm headquartered in France and led by Chief Executive Officer Pierre-Etienne Franc.

Hy24 is a fund management company jointly established by Ardian, one of the world's largest fund managers, and Five T Hydrogen, an investment company specializing in clean hydrogen. The Fund, led by Air Liquide, Total Energies, and Vinci, was formed to promote expansion of the hydrogen market through the commercialization of hydrogen. It invests in clean hydrogen production projects and hydrogen station development projects worldwide.

By investing in the Fund, DBJ aims to promote carbon neutrality in Japan by acquiring the advanced expertise needed to achieve that goal and returning its benefits to society.

Under its 5th Mid-Term Management Plan (see the post "About the 5th Mid-Term Management Plan" dated May 20, 2021), DBJ is also promoting the GRIT Strategy* aimed at encouraging sustainable society through investments and loans. This project will be actively promoted as an initiative connected to the GRIT Strategy.

DBJ will support our clients' efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in Japan in accordance with our corporate philosophy, "Design the future with financial expertise: Continue to expand financial frontiers; Provide the best solutions for customers and society; Pursue sustainable development for Japan and the world"

*The "GRIT Strategy" refers to the following: G: Realization of a green society; R: Construction of a flexible, strong, safe and secure regional, social and industrial infrastructure; I: Initiatives for innovation considered feasible for commercialization; and T: Strategic initiatives for transition based on current business fundamentals. These are the bank's priority areas under the Fifth Medium-Term Management Plan.
