Uemura Kouki Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture), is a key supplier of aircraft, naval, and industrial gas turbine components. Since embarking on the processing of aircraft engine components in 1990, Uemura Kouki has been delivering a wide range of components, primarily to major Japanese aircraft engine manufacturers. In 2012, the company started expanding its production capacity. This included the construction of the Nishi Kobe Factory ahead of a full-fledged production increase to supply components for major next-generation passenger aircraft.
Uemura Kouki, looking ahead to a further expansion in aircraft demand, transferred its Nishi Kobe Factory to Uemura Advanced Technology Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture), via a spin-off to tackle the manufacturing of complex aircraft engine components at the Nishi Kobe Factory.
DBJ supplied growth capital to Uemura Advanced Technology through Special Investment Operations. This financing reflects expectations that Uemura Kouki's measures to change its management by tackling the manufacturing of complex components will contribute to the fortification of the competitiveness of the Uemura Kouki Group and the domestic aircraft engine industry.
DBJ aims to contribute to the enhancement of the financial infrastructure of the Uemura Kouki Group. In addition, DBJ plans to support the expansion of business operations at the Uemura Kouki Group utilizing the knowhow it has cultivated through its more than 30 years of working closely with the Japanese government to support the aircraft industry, a close relationship that started prior to DBJ's privatization.
