Providing Financing to Goto Bus Company Inc. for the Construction of the Goto Tsubaki Hotel

Goto Bus Company Inc. (headquarters: Goto, Nagasaki Prefecture), under its motto of "Go with Goto," operates a route bus service, which is the only public transportation throughout the island Fukuejima, Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture. The company is a member of the Nagasaki Bus Group.

In addition to operating a route bus service, Goto Bus runs chartered buses and manages the Campana Hotel, one of the island's best luxury hotels. The company's transportation and tourism services for Goto are key infrastructure for life on the island, tying it closely to the local economy.

A rise in tourist demand owing to the registration of the "Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki and Amakusa Region" to the World Heritage List in July 2018 was a tailwind for this project. DBJ, in cooperation with local and other financial institutions, implemented financing for the construction of the business and tourist Goto Tsubaki Hotel (opened June 15, 2019) in tandem with the closure of the dilapidated Goto Bus Terminal Hotel.

DBJ is supporting the construction of the hotel for the following reasons: (1) The construction of the hotel is key to the fortification of the company's business infrastructure. (2) The hotel is situated close to Fukue Port, which is the entrance to Fukuejima. In light of this, the hotel is likely to address a diverse range of needs from business to leisure, thereby creating jobs as well as revitalizing Goto and Nagasaki as a whole.
