Green Power Investment Corporation ("GPI") has consistently engaged in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy projects since its establishment in 2004. The current fund (the "Fund") was launched with 53 billion yen for equity investment in active renewable energy assets managed by GPI.
DBJ drew on its own experience investing in renewable energy when it supported the Fund's establishment. As the largest investor in the Fund, we continue to support GPI in its new business development. Our participation as leading investor has had the positive effect of attracting investment in the Fund from some of Japan's leading institutional investors.
With the establishment of the Fund, GPI will continue to own and operate active renewable energy assets while using the funds it collects for the development of new renewable energy projects, including offshore wind power. This recycling of capital will contribute to the growth of high-quality renewable energy assets in Japan.
The funds for this investment were provided under DBJ's "special investment operations" program, through which we promote the supply of growth capital by the private sector and actively support our customers' efforts to build competitiveness.
