DBJ London Representative Office Restructured as Overseas SubsidiaryDBJ Europe Limited to Offer Investments & Loans, M&A Advisory Services

Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ, President and CEO: Minoru Murofushi) announces the opening on November 10, 2009 of DBJ Europe Limited (DBJE), a local subsidiary based in London. Formerly the DBJ Overseas Representative Office, the subsidiary will enable the bank to serve its customers in Europe, the Mideast and elsewhere through a broad range of programs including investments, loans, and M&A advisory services. DBJ Europe is capitalized at ?7,500,000, furnished in its entirety by the parent company.

Even before its privatization on October 1, 2008, DBJ had rolled out a wide range of investment and loan programs, as well as M&A advisory services, designed to assist foreign-capitalized and foreign companies in Europe and elsewhere in their investments and other business activities throughout Japan. Privatization, however, marked the start of an essential initiative to develop overseas operations as part of a larger growth strategy. DBJE, based in one of the world’s great centers of international finance will enable DBJ to serve a clientele with diverse needs through a balanced program of loans, investments, M&A services and more.

DBJ Europe is committed to helping its clients in Japan in their efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and operate in an environmentally conscious manner. As London is a focal market for emissions trading, DBJ Europe will be able to support its Japanese customers in their acquisition of emissions rights while helping Japan fulfill its Japan’s targets under the Kyoto Protocol.
