DBJ investment in Laguna Bay Fund 2

Development Bank of Japan Inc. ("DBJ") has become the first Japanese investor to sign an agreement to invest in Laguna Bay Fund 2, advised by Laguna Bay Group Pty Ltd (Founder & Managing Director Tim McGavin, "Laguna Bay").

Established in 2010, Laguna Bay is an agriculture fund manager in Australia which has invested in diversified agricultural sectors such as almonds, wheat, livestock, and dairy, and has built a strong position in the Australian food and agriculture sector. Laguna Bay aims to address issues like the overall aging of farmers, difficulties in farm business succession and lack of money to invest for scaling up, and supports many of its invested farms by improving their production efficiency or organizing their management systems using its own network of sector specialists and know-how in farm management. At the same time, Laguna Bay has focused on a comparative advantage of Australia: its proximity to the Asian market, where demand for food products will continue to increase, supported by middle-class population growth, and therefore has promoted export to enhance sales channels of its invested farms. As the second diversified fund advised by Laguna Bay, Laguna Bay Fund 2 will contribute to developing the Australian food and agriculture sector.

Through its investment in Laguna Bay Fund 2, DBJ intends to gain advanced know-how to solve agriculture issues that are arising in developed countries, fostering further contributions to the industry's next phase of growth.

Applying its corporate philosophy--"Design the future with financial expertise: Continue to expand financial frontiers; Provide the best solutions for customers and society; Pursue sustainable development for Japan and the world"--DBJ will continue to create diverse financial solutions to actively support further development of the food and agriculture industries in Japan.
